Blagoevgrad -

With a Decree No 2296 from the 4th of August 1983 of the Council of Ministers it is separated as an independent Higher Pedagogical Institute, and with a decision of the National Assembly published in the Official State Gazette issue 68 from the 1st of August 1995 it promulgated as an independent State University with its own accreditation.

Минно-геоложкият университет "Св. Иван Рилски" съществува като самостоятелна образователна институция от 1953 г. Bourgas - University "Prof. Assen Zlatarov" - Burgas
Bourgas Prof. Assen Zlatarov University is a state institution, founded in 1963 as Higher Institute of Chemical Technology. It was transformed into Bourgas Prof. Assen Zlatarov University in 1995.
Students are trained in 27 subjects in 3 faculties and 3 colleges and obtain Specialist (3 years of study), Bachelor (4 years of study), Master (5 years of study) and PhD (3 years of study after Master) degrees.
A staff of high skilled professionals works in the University, including 86 professors and 120 PhDs. The University has a foreign students training section, a postgraduate qualification department and research centres.
The University has at its disposal 2 teaching corps, 3 students hostels, 1 gym, 1 canteen and a medical centre. The university library has over 160 000 volumes in different languages.

Plovdiv - Technical University of Sofia, Branch Plovdiv
Technical University – Sofia, Branch Plovdiv trains students, postgraduates and Ph.D. students in the specialties affirmed by the Ministry of Education and Science.
The tutorial rooms and the laboratories are situated in four academic buildings. The laboratories, in which the classes are carried out, are equipped with modern appliances and computer devices.
According the nowadays requirements we have provided a possibility for the students to study for an additional qualification, along side with their basic specialty, through postgraduate qualification or parallel additional training.

Plovdiv - Agricultural University
Началото на висшето агрономическо образование в България се поставя през 1921 г. в София с откриването на Агрономически факултет към университета.
С Указ на регентския съвет от 4 август 1945 г., публикуван в ДВ от 20 август 1945 г., в Пловдив е разкрит университет с два факултета – медицински и агрономо-лесовъден, а през 1950 г. се създава самостоятелен Висш селскостопански институт “Васил Коларов”. В него тогава работят 7 професори, 9 доценти, 26 асистенти, от които 5 доктори. Сред преподавателския състав са утвърдени и доказани учени с международна известност като професорите Христо Даскалов, Павел Попов и др. В института са обособени три факултета – агрономически, технологически и лозаро-градинарски, с добре окомплектовани катедри, лаборатории и помощни звена – учебно-опитна база, библиотека и др.

Shumen - National Military University
The University is founded in 1948 in Sofia according Parliament's decree 1967 from 27.11.1948. In the fall of 1951 it is resituated in the town of Shoumen and from 1959 becomes a school of higher education. During 1990 it is named:"Higher Education Military School of Artillery and Air-Defence."

Sofia - Technical University of Sofia
Half a century ago, by Decree No.237 (State Gazette Iss. 248/ 24.10.1945) of the National Assembly of Bulgaria, the State Polytechnic was founded having a Faculty of Mechanical Engineering with 4 divisions: mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial chemistry and mining and geology.
In 1953 Decree No. 231/10.06.1953 regulated the formation of four higher institutes of learning on the basis of the former State Polytechnic. One of these was the Institute of Mechanical and Electrical engineering with two Faculties: that of Mechanical Engineering and of Electrical engineering.
In 1956 the Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering - Sofia was renamed into the Higher Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
In 1995 the 37th National Assembly renamed the Higher Institute of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering into the Technical University of Sofia.

Sofia - Higher College of Telecommunications and Posts
The year 2003 marks 80 years of opening of the State Telegraph and Postal School in Sofia and 55 years since its transformation in a semi-high State Telegraph and Postal Institute.
On the 30th November 1922 the 19th Ordinary national Committee accepted the Law of opening of the Telegraph, Postal and Railway School, certified with Decree №60 / 1923 Tsar Boris III-rd.
On the 18th February 1948, the Sixth Great Parliament accepted the Law of the State Telegraph Institute with the status of a semi-high specialized institute with a course of education with a duration of 3 academic years.

Varna - Economic University
The idea to open a Higher School of Commerce (HSC) in Varna arose in 1911, and the foundations of the present-day building of the University were laid. The construction was financially supported by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Varna and the state, which provided considerable funds.
In 1914, during the XXIst session of Varna Chamber of Commerce and Industry there was passed the decision to open a Higher School of Commerce. The funds needed to lay the foundations of the HSC were approved, however, because of the impending World War I the decision was not fully carried out. After the War, the first post-war session of the Chamber was held in 1920.
